Questions, answered straight.

The things people actually ask before hiring, including the ones about money. If yours is not here, email me and it probably should be.

  • What does a project cost?

Figures are not published, because a number without a scope attached is meaningless: the same word, "website", covers a two-week landing page and a four-month build. Most engagements land between $5,000 and $25,000.

The sequence is: you tell me what is wrong, I scope it, and you get a written proposal with a fixed price before anything starts. You will never receive an hourly invoice you cannot predict, and you will never get a surprise change order.

  • What is the Snapshot, and what is the catch?

You send a link. You get back one page on what your surfaces currently signal, where they contradict each other, and the three things worth fixing first. No charge, no call, no scheduled demo.

The catch is that it is genuinely useful on its own, and some people take it and go fix things themselves. That is fine. It is the cheapest possible way for both of us to find out whether we should work together.

  • Who actually does the work?

I do. There is no team, no junior doing the first pass, and no account manager between you and the person making decisions. The person who reads your problem is the person who designs it and the person who ships it.

That is the whole proposition, and it is also the honest constraint: I take a limited number of engagements at a time.

  • How long does it take?

A Snapshot is two business days. An Audit is about a week. Identity work runs four to six weeks. A site is six to ten depending on how much of it has to be written as well as built.

The single biggest variable is not my speed. It is how quickly feedback comes back. Timelines assume one consolidated set of comments per round within five business days, from whoever has final say.

  • Do you only do branding?

No, and that is the point. Brand, websites, decks, print, signage, imagery, email systems, Google Workspace, and the automation underneath, everything a customer sees and the systems that keep it running.

Most studios take one slice and hand you back to the market for the rest, which is how businesses end up with five vendors and five different versions of themselves.

  • Do you work with clients outside Ventura?

Yes. The practice is based in Ventura and serves Ventura, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles counties in person, and everywhere else remotely. Most of the work happens over shared files and scheduled calls regardless of distance.

  • Who owns the work when it is finished?

You do. On full payment, all rights in the final deliverables transfer to you.

Working files, unused concepts and the underlying method stay with me. Those can be transferred by separate agreement. Fonts and stock imagery are licensed, not sold, and where a license has to be in your name it is bought in your name from the start.

  • What do I get at the end?

Finished files in the formats you will actually use, plus a written guideline document your future vendors can execute against without asking you anything. The printer, the developer and whoever sets up your email should all be able to work from it.

A logo delivered with no system around it is how brands drift within a year.

  • Can you fix what my last designer left?

Usually. Start with the Audit, it establishes what is salvageable and what is costing you money, before either of us commits to a rebuild.

Sometimes the answer is that the identity is fine and the problem is everywhere it gets applied. That is a much cheaper fix, and it is worth knowing before you pay for a rebrand you do not need.

  • Do you build on WordPress?

Not by default. Most small business sites do not need a database, a plugin stack, or the monthly maintenance and security surface that comes with them.

Sites are built as fast static pages that are cheap to host and hard to break. If you genuinely need a CMS, you get one, just not as the automatic answer to every question.

  • Do you offer ongoing work?

The Partnership retainer is standing monthly capacity across every discipline: a design department without the search, the salaries or the overhead.

It renews monthly and cancels by emailing me the word "cancel". No call, no retention script, no cancellation flow designed to wear you down.

  • What do you need from me to start?

Access to what exists (site, files, brand assets), and one person who can approve things. That is genuinely it.

You do not need a brief written. Working out what the actual problem is happens to be most of the job.
